Weight changes, Item dropping and...trees?

Features:

  • Reworked the weight system, Items now use a larger weight metric, but it's converted to appear as it did before. Several item weights have been adjusted slightly, but should be comparable
  • All items now have a weight, even if it's only a tiny amount like 0.01
  • The labor skill now affects player carry weight, 1 skill level = 1 carry weight
  • Added the option to climb on top of trees
  • Tree graphics can now face different directions to reduce uniformity
  • Trees will break when teleported or moved
  • Items dropped from the inventory now have more functionality can be examined and interacted with
  • Renamed the "Body Morph" spell to "Transfigure"
  • Outlaws and guards can now appear as either male or female
  • Can now toggle off autosaving when resting
  • The portal staff is now rewarded at the end of the existing hell content (for now!)
  • The free portal staff has been removed from the pause menu

Bug Fixes:

  • Ponds no longer teleport as they are fixed locations
  • Cleaned up some redundant scripting in the opening menu, The new game button might be easier to click as well


Okay so where does that leave us then? Well I'm interested in seeing how the weight changes work out and the inventory stuff. I know climbing trees is very buggy and weird, but I'm curious to see what kind of shenanigans can come from it. In my own testing I was able to plant trees on top of trees and other weird interactions.

As far as future content goes I've been having difficulties coming up with a system for copying the inventory of one actor into the inventory of another, so dropping all your items on death is postponed, but still planned! This also ties into issues with reworking shops and collections not quite working. I'm considering also making barrels and crates destructible after some testing to make sure items aren't lost, but realistically it should work the same as when you pick them up.

Some planned reworks include: Adding agility as a skill, Fishing as a minigame, Adding allure as a skill (Similar to charisma), reworking how NPCs interact with the player, possibly some kind of interface to use items on other items for extra interactions.
