Dont Die 2.0 Update


The desert expansion, in just a months development time, it's a good pace so far, and I've already begun drafting out the features for future updates. Here's a list of all the changes.

Features:

  • Added a desert region, with 20+ new zones to explore
  • Added carry weight to backpack, to many items can slow the player down
  • Added a storage limit to barrels
  • Added thirst, dehydration will harm the player over time
  • Sign posts added to the build menu
  • Added cactuses
  • Added scorpions
  • Can now collect demon eyeballs, and insert them into empty sockets
  • Added a new Elixer
  • Elixers can now be emptied from vials
  • Player can now drink vials of water and urine
  • Player can now drink buckets of water and saltwater
  • Added Cannons
  • Added potassium nitrate, gunpowder and cannonballs, the player can craft these items
  • Added some of the new items to the pirate trader
  • Added reeds and reed clothe, which can be used to craft clothing
  • Added Flax and fine clothe, which can be used to craft better clothing
  • Added new outfit and headpiece
  • Added 3 new hairstyles to the body morph spell
  • Player can now cut their hair using the body options
  • Reduced experience points for casting raise undead spell
  • Failing to cast a spell will now inform the player how much magic was needed to cast it
  • Reworked the NPC equipment menu to be cleaner, and include ALL equipment, (you can now equip anything to allied NPCS)
  • The suicide menu has been reworked to include more body options, the icon has been changed
  • Players can remove each of their eyeballs using the body options
  • Adjusted the hunger meter to be more visible
  • Armor stands now have the option to be turned to a specified direction
  • Added a greenish tint to undead bears
  • Adjusted to loading and saving UI color to match other interfaces
  • Went through and added very simple sound effects to various actions and items (Emptying vials, Making gunpowder,  etc etc)

Bug Fixes:

  • Collecting demon blood no longer duplicates chalices
  • dealt with a stray pixel that was showing up on a couple outfits
  • left clicking while sailing no longer uses your equipped weapon
  • Magic no longer regenerates while the game is paused
  • Hunger and Thirst no longer drain while the game is paused
  • Game time no longer passes while the game is paused
  • Various interfaces have been fixed, and now close correctly when you press Esc
  • killing certain characters no longer produces a buggy bloodstain


I have some plans for a little more desert content, but that's for the future, I want to get this all nice and polished first, possibly next update. So far I have plans for adding other necromancers to the game world, fleshing out sailing and ship combat, more farming options, allowing the player to work as a merchant. 

and of course the content I promised in the poll a month ago, Heaven, Hell, and Eastern lands. I will probably continue updating Dont Die for the rest of this year, and most likely finish those core updates. beyond that maybe some bug fixes and value tweaks unless some major suggestions or interest is taken.

There is currently a game breaking bug which makes it impossible to save and load if you equip items to NPCs and armor stands.

The next update will see a reduced drain rate for thirst, after noticing how quickly it was killing players.
